This week has certainly been a busy one! From working to Christmas shopping to getting my first tattoo, I’ll recount for you all the highlights of my week.
As many of you know, I am very passionate about nursing. While scrolling through my Instagram feed, I noticed that @thenurselink, a medical and health organization that tailors to aspiring and current nurses, posted a flyer for an event coming up in late January. They will be hosting an expo in Atlanta, Georgia at Georgia State University, of which nursing students, nurses, and other healthcare professionals are welcome to attend for a registration fee of $20. I was so excited to see that this event is taking place so close to home, and I quickly registered. Here’s what their site says about the event:
The Nurse Link presents ‘Atlanta Nurse Expo’ 2017 as the first expo
of its kind. This one-day event hosted in Downtown Atlanta is an interactive, peer led network gathering that unites current, future, and aspiring nurses under one roof for empowerment, innovation, and advancement.
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in Q & A panels with top professionals and guest speakers, connect with employment and school recruiters, witness live demos, learn about multi-faceted scopes of practice and shop nurse brands and vendors. All attendees will be entered for scholarship and giveaway draws to be presented at the event.
Through the collaboration of sponsors, unique brands, and businesses, those working and entering nursing will be exposed to the broad possibilities at and beyond the bedside.
For more information, check out the flyer below, and don’t forget to tell your nurse/aspiring nurse friends!
After years of putting the process on the back burner, I finally got my first tattoo. I always said that my first tattoo would be something representing a mixture of art and science, two things of which I hold very dearly. However, I wasn’t certain of what I wanted it to consist of. About 2 weeks ago though, I’m scrolling through some pages online and I see this phrase. For whatever reason, it stuck with me: “I am because He is”. I knew I had to get it.
Admittedly, I am not the most devout Christian. I make mistakes and fall short of my duties as a server of Christ just as everyone else. Nevertheless, I wholeheartedly believe that there exists a force more powerful than we could imagine. This year, for example, has been one of the best I have had. Not only have I seen the fruits of my labor blossom (graduating college, starting a career, purchasing a new car, etc.), but my headspace has matured tremendously. I focus solely on creating a positive atmosphere for myself and for those around me. I surround myself with those things that assist is my physical, emotional, and spiritual growth and maintenance. And though hard times come, I know that I’m equipped to handle each of them because of my belief in God and in the plan He has for me. No longer am I bound my the opinions of others or my own self-doubt. I can honestly say that I am happy with my life, those who are in my life, as well as those things and people who aren’t. As I go through this next year, I hope that my potential continues to grow in all aspects of my life. I’m loving the person I’m becoming, and I’m continuing to be better everyday.
God is dope in case you don’t already know.
After taking a poll on social media, I decided to head on over to Allegiance Ink to get my tattoo done. As this was my first experience with getting a tattoo, I didn’t have anything to compare this particular experience to; however, I can say that the artists at Allegiance were very friendly and professional. I was in and out in under an hour. Once I was finished, I received detailed instructions on how to care for my tattoo. I can honestly say that I had a positive experience and will we back again for more ink!
…and I got my nose pierced too!
If you’re in the Augusta area and are interested in getting a tattoo or piercing done, Allegiance Ink comes highly recommended. I’ll leave their information below:

I didn’t really do much in the way of fixing myself up today. I opted for something simple as you can see. I’m always wearing neutrals. Today was no exception. Outfit details are below:
I realize that it’s almost Christmas, and I admit that I have done little to no shopping. Today, I took it upon myself to shop solely for Christmas gifts and not for myself.
But when people ask me what I want for Christmas, I seriously don’t know what to tell them. Now more than ever, I’m able to purchase whatever it is that I wish for. I’m very blessed with what I have, so it’s difficult to come up with other things that I want. For the sake of this post, I’ll list a few things that I’d ask for this year:
- Clinique Happy ($51) – This is probably my favorite fragrance to date. It’s light, feminine and perfect for any occasion.
- Too Faced Sweet Peaches Palette ($42) – I remember when this palette first launched during Summer 2016 and I remember shortly thereafter when it was sold out everywhere. Back my popular demand, Too Faced just relaunched their Sweet Peaches collection, including some highlighters, blushes, and lip glosses in that same collection. This would be a perfect addition to my stash, especially for spring/summertime looks.
- Personalized nurse tote – I can’t tell you how many pens, report sheets, and rolls of transpore tape that I have in my backpack. I’d like a no-fuss tote bag solely dedicated to my nursing supplies–equipped with plenty of pockets and lots of style.
- A simple, sleek casual watch – In all honesty, my taste isn’t that flashy. When it comes to most things, I like to keep it simple. I love analog watches. Don’t get me wrong, today’s smart watches are very cool, but I’m dying to have one, nor a watch with lots of glistening stones. I’d love a clean, chic watch for casual wear…like this one…or this one.
I’m sure there are other little things that I’d appreciate, but those are just a few things that I can think of right now.
Thank you guys for stopping by! Stay tuned for more posts!
