Hello everyone! I’m here to share with you all another exciting blog post. I decided to spend my 23rd birthday in New Orleans, Louisiana and it was such a fun time.
I left on July 6 from the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, GA. I left at approximately 1 PM EST and the flight was only about an hour and a half, so I had plenty of time once I arrived to go exploring.
It’s essential for me to always be comfortable at the airport, especially during longer flights. This airport-friendly outfit is from H&M. (Click here for the direct link to the top; click here for the direct link to the bottoms.)
I arrived at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport at around 130 PM CST. While waiting for my luggage to arrive (an unfortunate little mishap during my arrival), I ate at this New Orleans-style restaurant called Dook’s Place.
I’m not the biggest lover of all seafood, but this place had the best shrimp that I had ever had! I chose a delicious dish of whole shrimp covered in butter garlic sauce with a side of jambalaya and toasted garlic baguette slices. This was certainly a perfect introduction to NOLA!
On the second day, I decided to spend some time on the Mississippi River. New Orleans offers many river cruises–detailed with historical accounts of the city, and some of those cruises offer lunch on the river.

I also took a trip through the French Quarter. The French Quarter is the oldest section of New Orleans. The streets are lined with everything from clubs to bars to shops to art galleries. There is literally something for everyone here!
On the way through the French Quarter, I stopped by the New Orleans Creole Cookery and grabbed a gigantic plate of gumbo!
At the end of the night, I decided to step out onto Bourbon Street, and I must say, if you haven’t added visiting this place to your to-do list, then you must! If you love a wild party scene with loud music and lots (and lots) of bars and drinks, then this is the place for you.

My 23rd birthday was on July 8! I started my day off with some of New Orleans’s signature beignets.
Beignets are commonly known in New Orleans as a breakfast food served with powdered sugar on top. They are traditionally prepared right before consumption to be eaten fresh and hot. Café du Monde is a popular New Orleans food destination specializing in beignets with powdered sugar, coffee with chicory, and café au lait.
For my daytime look, I opted for this matching set from Charlotte Russe. It’s very breathable and perfect for the humid New Orleans weather. (Click here for the direct link to the top; click here for the direct link to the bottoms.)
And for my nighttime/birthday outfit, I chose a few tailored all-white pieces with a touch of sex appeal.

Before heading out to Bourbon Street (again), I went to dinner at Chophouse New Orleans, one of the highest-ranked steakhouses in the city. With an in-restaurant piano man and delicious steak and wine dinners, I’d definitely give this place a thumbs up.
After spending a full day of recovery, I spent my last day in New Orleans taking in the last bits of the city…and some more good food!
My last stop was to a highly-recommended restaurant called Oceana Grill, located on the corner of Bourbon and Conti. I’ve been told that if you leave New Orleans without going there, you haven’t truly been to New Orleans. Locals, tourists, and celebrities alike flock to this place for truly authentic creole cuisine, and with good reason. I tried their cajun shrimp fettuccini already with a slice of Kentucky bourbon pecan pie (and trust me, the bourbon taste was definitely there) and, without a doubt, am so glad I stopped by before heading back to Georgia.
Overall, I had a great time in New Orleans, and will definitely be back to visit. As for my 24th birthday, who knows where I’ll be. Next stop…?
